The role

Our client is the market-leading, comprehensive, and professional-grade VR medical simulation system, used by customers to train physicians, nurses, paramedics, and other allied health professionals. The customer base has grown dramatically year over year for several consecutive years, and new team members are needed to keep moving the product forward.

The team spans medical professionals, educators, engineers, producers, and content specialists. As Senior DevOps Engineer you will own the reliability, security posture, and continuous improvement of the cloud infrastructure and build systems. You will provide technical leadership across cross-functional teams, setting standards for CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, and DevSecOps practices.

What you will own

  • Lead DevOps initiatives and new deployments across cross-functional teams
  • Architect and maintain secure pipelines that support continuous integration and deployment
  • Migrate Terraform IaC to open-source Terraform such as OpenTofu
  • Maintain and modernize existing GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines
  • Remediate security findings across multiple AWS cloud environments
  • Evolve and integrate DevSecOps principles into the existing CI/CD pipelines and AWS infrastructure
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate the status of DevOps projects
  • Monitor cloud-based applications for errors and troubleshoot performance issues
  • Mentor engineers across teams on DevOps and security best practices

What we require

  • B.S. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or an appropriate technical degree, or equivalent engineering experience
  • 7+ years designing and implementing continuous delivery or DevOps solutions and architecture patterns in AWS cloud environments, including demonstrated lead or senior individual-contributor ownership of multi-account environments
  • 7+ years with code repository management, code merge and quality checks, continuous integration, and automated deployment and management using tools such as Git, GitHub Actions, Terraform, Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS ECS
  • 3+ years of hands-on cloud security and DevSecOps experience, including vulnerability management programs (Snyk, AWS Security Hub, GuardDuty, Inspector, Trivy), secrets management, and container and supply-chain security (image scanning, SBOMs, ECR, immutable tags)
  • Strong experience with Docker and software containerization including container security: multi-stage builds, non-root users, distroless and minimal base images, image scanning, SBOMs, and immutable registry tags
  • Experience with AWS IAM: least-privilege role design, OIDC identity federation, cross-account trust policies, and Service Control Policies
  • Strong automation skills using shell scripting, webhooks, and SQS
  • Familiarity with AI tools and workflows using Cursor or Claude to enhance DevOps processes
  • Strong remote communication and teamwork skills
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
  • Permanent residence in the United States

What will set you apart

  • Experience building new dev environments for testing and staging
  • Experience supporting multiple IaC stacks across multiple AWS accounts
  • Experience with online web security and security remediation plans
  • Familiarity with container orchestrators such as AWS ECS, EKS, Fargate, and Lambda
  • Experience with NodeJS web app build and deployments
  • AWS Security Specialty certification, or equivalent demonstrated security depth
  • Relevant security certifications: Security+, CISSP, CCSP, or similar
  • Experience operating under HIPAA, HITRUST, SOC 2, or similar compliance frameworks in a technical capacity
  • Experience running a vulnerability-management program with defined SLAs
  • Experience with AWS WAF, Shield, Network Firewall, or VPC security controls
  • Experience with Unity3d build and deployment processes

Schedule

This is a full-time, remote position. Candidates will primarily be expected to work during Pacific Time business hours and to be on-call for service outages and incidents.

Compensation and benefits

  • Target salary range of $140,000 to $160,000 annually, commensurate with experience
