Gastroenterologist - Full-Service Medical Center (Boise, ID)

The role

Our client is a full-service medical center in Boise staffing its gastroenterology service with up to four physicians. Positions are contingent on contract award and on the facility credentialing each physician. This is a procedure-forward clinical role, roughly 95% direct patient care, anchored in the endoscopy suite with a standing clinic and consult presence behind it.

You will perform the full range of colonoscopy and EGD work: diagnostic and therapeutic scopes, biopsies, polypectomy with hot forceps and snare, ablation, and submucosal techniques, with advanced procedures as clinically required under your privileges. Consults run bedside for inpatients and in clinic for ambulatory patients, and the service teaches: health professions trainees rotate through, and their supervision is part of the role.

What you will own

• The endoscopy caseload: colonoscopy (including via colostomy, with biopsy, ablation, and polyp removal by hot forceps and snare) and EGD (diagnostic, biopsy, and removal techniques).
• Consultative gastroenterology, bedside for non-ambulatory inpatients and in clinic for ambulatory patients, completed within 30 days of the consult.
• On-call participation in a roughly one-in-four rotation: weeknights 4:30 pm to 8:00 am, about one weekend in four, and about one holiday in four, with a 15-minute phone response and 60-minute in-person response when medically indicated.
• Result notification workflows, discharge education, and follow-up coordination with the next care setting.
• Teaching and supervision of trainees rotating through the service, with documentation that reflects your involvement.
• Quality management and performance improvement documentation for all procedures, complications, and outcomes.

What we require

• A current, full, unrestricted medical license in any US state or territory, with a license history free of restriction, suspension, revocation, or denial.
• Board Certified or Board Eligible in Gastroenterology (ABIM); both are equally acceptable.
• Current BLS and ACLS certification (or facility-accepted equivalent).
• A current DEA registration and an NPI.
• Fluent spoken and written English.
• Eligibility to pass credentialing and privileging, a background investigation, and exclusion-list screening.

Work environment

• On-site at the medical center. The facility operates around the clock; the GI service is clinic- and suite-based with an on-call component.

Hours and coverage

• Clinics and procedures run Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with the on-call rotation described above.
• Planned leave requires 45 days' notice for clinic scheduling.

Compliance and credentialing

• Full credentialing and privileging must be completed before your first patient.
• Immunization documentation (TB screening, MMR, varicella, Tdap, annual flu, hepatitis B series) is required within five calendar days of contract award and before your first shift.
• Professional liability coverage of $1M per occurrence / $3M aggregate is maintained for the engagement.
