Registered Nurse - Primary Care Team (Dayton, OH)

The role

Our client is a large medical center in Dayton, Ohio that runs around the clock, every day of the year, and is adding twelve registered nurses to the nursing side of its primary care patient business operation. You work weekday clinic hours, on site, inside a care team with an assigned nurse manager and a charge-nurse line for anything that runs past the day.

The statement of work asks for nurses with real acute-care depth. The client names intensive care, medical-surgical, telemetry and cardiac monitoring, and emergency room experience as the backgrounds it wants, and the duty list reaches into critical care, scrub and circulating support, cardiac rhythm interpretation, and defibrillator and monitor operation. Day to day you contribute to patient assessment, set priorities, identify nursing measures and therapeutic objectives, and evaluate outcomes.

The engagement is expected to begin October 19, 2026 and runs a base year, with a possible short extension. All positions are contingent on contract award.

What you will own

• Patient and family history, nursing assessment, and a documented plan of care with therapeutic objectives and outcome evaluation
• Verified transcription of physician orders, medication administration and IV therapy, and working knowledge of emergency drug dosages and crash-cart location
• Cardiac rhythm interpretation and operation of the defibrillator, EKG, and cardiac monitor
• Critical care nursing for intensive care patients and scrub and circulating duties in the emergency department and operating room when assigned
• Central line and ventilator care per facility policy, and skin assessment to prevent hospital-acquired pressure injuries
• Patient and family instruction on medications and procedures, and participation in discharge planning
• Documentation completed by the end of each patient encounter, sufficient to support the visit and procedure codes, and same-day reporting of any safety incident
• Weekly all-call, provider, and nurse meetings, and a monthly administrative meeting

What we require

• Graduation from a school of professional nursing accredited by ACEN or CCNE at the time you completed the program
• A current license from the Ohio Board of Nursing
• Current CPR certification from an American Heart Association vendor, and current BLS
• Current ACLS (required for specialty clinic assignment; the client's candidate package asks for it from every nurse)
• At least one year of direct patient care experience within the last three years
• Fluent spoken, read, and written English
• Eligibility to pass credentialing, a Tier 1 background investigation, and exclusion-list screening

Work environment

On site at the medical center in Dayton, Ohio. No telework. Twelve nurses are being hired against a daily on-site minimum of three, so the team carries coverage for one another's leave.

Hours and coverage

Scheduled within 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, as set by the primary care department, 2,080 hours per year, with two 15-minute breaks and a 30-minute lunch. The client may adjust duty hours to patient care needs with 24 hours' notice.

Compliance and credentialing

Credentialing and privileging precede your first shift. Immunization and screening documentation (MMR, hepatitis B, varicella, TB, annual flu) and quarterly ACLS/BLS refreshers plus annual privacy, safety, and clinical training are required.
