The role

Our client is an outpatient medical clinic on the Jersey Shore. The imaging department covers general radiography and DEXA, CT, MRI and ultrasound, Monday through Friday. West End Workforce is staffing five dedicated full-time technologists across four modalities on a 12-month contract with extension options of up to four additional years. Positions are contingent on contract award and on the facility credentialing each technologist. Your West End recruiter will share the client and facility details during the interview process.

The Ultrasound Sonographer performs diagnostic ultrasound, vascular and echocardiography examinations at an outpatient medical clinic on the Jersey Shore, under the direction of the staff radiologist. As the sole sonographer on site, the incumbent is responsible for complete, read-ready studies across a mixed general, vascular, echo and breast caseload.

What you will own

• Perform abdomen and retroperitoneum, small parts, male pelvis, gynecologic and obstetric studies.
• Perform vascular studies: upper and lower extremity venous, carotid, ABI and segmental pressures, aorta, renal artery, and lower extremity arterial including stents and bypasses.
• Perform echocardiograms as scheduled.
• Perform breast sonography and assist with ultrasound-guided breast biopsies.

What we require

• ARDMS Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in Abdomen, with OB/GYN and/or Breast as the caseload requires.
• ARDMS Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) for vascular examinations.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, renewed every two years.
• Minimum three years of diagnostic sonography experience, or the facility's minimum case counts for each procedure type performed.
• Vascular studies: upper and lower extremity venous, carotid, ABI and segmental pressures, aorta, renal artery and lower extremity arterial including stents and bypasses.
• Breast sonography and ultrasound-guided breast biopsy.

What you will bring

• Abdomen and retroperitoneum, small parts, gynecology, male pelvis, obstetrics and vascular imaging.
• Philips EPIQ 7, Hologic and Siemens systems preferred.
• PACS and electronic health record documentation.

Work environment

• Direct patient contact, including positioning patients for imaging.
• Works in a radiation environment, and for MRI a strong magnetic environment, under established safety controls.
• Standard precautions for blood and body fluids; infection control and bloodborne pathogen training required annually.

Hours and coverage

• Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, with a 30-minute unpaid meal break. Full time, 2,080 hours per year.
• Occasional pre-approved overtime. Some statutory holidays may be scheduled; the clinic confirms shifts two weeks in advance.
• Dedicated to this site; the client may reassign staff to another of its campuses when coverage requires.
• Continuity matters to this client: the assigned technologist is expected to stay in place through at least the first 90 days.

Compliance and credentialing

• Must complete the facility's credentialing process before the first shift; the facility may decline any candidate.
• Health screen before start: negative TB test within the past year, proof of MMR and varicella immunity, Tdap, and annual influenza vaccine (or mask during flu season).
• Completes the facility's mandatory training on hire and annually (privacy and HIPAA, patient safety, patient rights, infection control, electronic health record and imaging systems, and others as assigned) and maintains continuing education for registry renewal.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States; a background check and facility security requirements apply.
• First two weeks of cases are reviewed by a radiologist as a competency pre-assessment; a two-week protocol and equipment familiarization is provided in place of formal training.
